Sorry to keep you waiting. I’m not sure how this will go or if it will work but please bear with me. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
Not much has happened lately. Toby and Courtney have been gone for 2 weeks now and I miss the kids a lot. Oh, and I do kinda miss picking on Toby :P
At the moment it is cozy and warm in the house, but it’s not that way outside. We’re going through a very cold snap, and a few days ago we received a little blizzard, so now it’s not only feeling like January, it’s looking like it too.
We are down to two puppies (sold one, gave one away, and a car hit one :(). Does anyone want an adorable, sweet, playful, very smart, lovable, puppy? They have their dad’s love for the green tennis ball.
I started making an old-fashioned cloth doll the other day and now it’s finished. Well I have to touch up on a few things but the main part is done. I’m not an avid sewer but once in a while I like to make little pillows and dolls. The pattern I’m following is in a book called Make Your Own Old-Fashioned Cloth Doll & Her Wardrobe by Claire Bryant. I like the patterns in it, but I made a couple alterations to suit my preference for instance I sewed hair on it rather than painting the hair, face, and hands. I still might paint the face but I want to look around for other ideas first. This is my second doll I’ve made from that book. I want to get a few more cloth doll patterns to have a bit of variety. Do any of you have suggestions?

Eternal Light! Eternal Light!
How pure the soul must be
When, placed within Thy searching sight,
It shrinks not, but with calm delight
Can live, and look on Thee!
The spirits that surround Thy throne
May bear the burning bliss;
But that is surely theirs alone,
Since they have never, never known
A fallen world like this.
Oh how shall I, whose native sphere
Is dark, whose mind is dim,
Before the Ineffable appear,
And on my naked spirit bear
That uncreated beam?
There is a way for man to rise
To that sublime abode,---
An Offering and a Sacrifice
A Holy Spirit’s energies,
An advocate with God:
These, these prepare us for the sight
Of holiness above;
The sons of ignorance and night
May dwell in the Eternal Light,
Through the Eternal Love.

Tabby informed me the other day that her favorite song Signature Sound sings is (in her words) "I Grant My Allegiance" or the real name " I Pledge My Allegiance".

The Man Who Listens To Horses
The Story of a Real-Life Horse Whisperer
By Monty Roberts
It is the story of Monty’s life and how he learned the silent language of the horse through watching wild mustangs near his California home. I have learned a lot. His stories can be funny, sad, or exciting. If you are a horse lover or an avid reader on the subject of horses, I suggest you read this book.
I am reading a few other books but I’m not very far into any of them to be able to give you a thorough review.
That’s all I have for now, I’m thinking of posting Joygurl Excerpts bi-weekly. Like I said before if you have any ideas, please let me know.

Wonderful post, Hannah! I'm already looking forward to the next one!;-)
The dolls are SO cute! You really did a great job. Thanks for posting a picture of them!
I Love You!!
(((Hugs)))
The dolls you are making are so neat! I love the old fashioned look. I have seen some dolls done like that, and instead of painting faces on them, they'd leave them empty (to continue the old fashioned look I guess.) Or button eyes are fun, too. I've even seem some where the creator/designer just put a little bit of blush on the cheeks to add a little color. It was so cute!
