I Am A Quarter Horse
Ah, the Quarter Horse. The most common breed of horse owned in America, noted for its calm disposition and sensible attitude. A famous quarter horse played Black Beauty in the movie based upon Anne Sewell's book. You don't let life's problems bother you, and you deal with them in the most practical manner. You are quite intelligent, and it wouldn't hurt to use your talents to have a little more fun, to walk a little more on the wild side, like your ancestors.Your owner will most likely be either a cowboy or a young person learning to ride. You also stand a high chance of becoming a school horse.Your colour will most likely be: Anything, but most likely chestnut.

Horsey News
Lexus was not halter broke at all and if we pulled on the lead rope to go forward she would go backwards—FAST! But by the next day, she was leading without any pressure on the halter.
Now she thinks I’m her surrogate mother and when the other horses start antagonizing her, she’ll come and hide behind me. LOL :)
Then a day or two after Lexus came, we drove 60 some miles to see a weanling Paint colt, which stole our hearts the second we saw him. Levi, Dad, and second cousin, Larry Lee went over the next day to pick him up. It took four hours to get him in the trailer as the owners tried to force him in when he got scared and backed off. But finally he was in and they all came home, dog-tired. :P Starbucks got over his frightening experience and soon was buddies with Lexus.

A New Fad of Mine
I started peicing this quilt the beginning of last week and by Friday I was quilting the border. It’s the first quilt I’ve ever made and that’s one of the reasons it’s small (31 ½" x 30 ½"). The pattern is called Tulip Basket and I wouldn’t recommend it for a first quilt :P.

5 Reasons Why I Love God
I love Him because of His redeeming love. "Its not that He died for the whole world; that humbles my heart, brings me to my knees, but that He died for me!" It is hard for me to comprehend why such a perfect, all-powerful God would love such a one as me!
His wonderful grace. Wonderful!! Unending!! Greater than MY SINS!!
He first loved me, how can I help but love Him?
I love Him because He said that He would never leave me or forsake me.
He is holding me in the palm of His hand and will guide me in the path that I must go.
Okay so now that I did it, I’ll tag…

"Watch Out! I'm Going to Cast!"
We get to the lake, the guys take the best spot, so us girls find some other place to fish. We get set up (grossing out at the worms on our hooks ) and cast out. Oh, somebody’s bobber just disappeared! After a series of jerks, reeling, and squealing, the line is wound back up and we look earnestly for the fish on the hook. Aw, it’s just a piece of seaweed (or is it called lake weed in our case?).
Okay cast back out; making sure you don’t hook yourself or anyone next to you. Or that you don’t fall in the lake while you’re casting (and there were a few close calls to both of those precautions! ;)). I hooked Gabrielle’s shirt sleeve!!! And once she came close to falling in the lake when she cast!
Despite our novice beginnings we caught a few fish between us girls although none of them were big enough to keep. But we enjoyed the scenery; setting sun, fog slowly drifting over the water, fish jumping at the bugs, and sounds of the warbling of bull frogs. It was quite peaceful and we had a nice time.
In fact, everyone had such a good time that we want to do it again. I just hope that none of us really hook each other or fall into the snapping turtle infested lake next time :D!!

Here it turns out that these people are from Kenya, Africa, and they are Christians!! We exchanged names and they took Dad to a gas station to buy some starting fluid to see if that would work. They tried it and the van started but it was only running on the fluid and then shutting off after they stopped spraying it. It was then that we realized it was the fuel pump that wasn't working.
In the meantime we had gotten a call from Britt saying that we were aunts, uncles, and grandparents for the third time! We all were thrilled and couldn't wait to get out of this predicament so we could make plans to go down and see him. :P
We had been calling around to our friends to see if they knew anyone that lived in the Cities and knew about mechanics and such. Someone gave us a number for someone who would help us atleast get us to the airport to get Gabe.
We got a hold of them and they said they would be happy to help and would be right over. We figured out who would go and who would stay and then left with this couple (Alan and Joan). We got to the airport right on time with Gabe's flight and we met him right by the baggage carousel.
Oh, it was soooooo good to see him! We at first didn't recognize him (his back was turned and he looked like the other soldier next to him).
Until we got right in front of him did we realize who it was! Sorry about the bad lighting :(.
After retreiving his belongings, we headed back. Dad called us on the cell phone and said that he had got the van going (something about pounding a hammer on the gas tank while turning the key) and to come straight back to the park!
We made it safely home, and stayed up a few hours talking, watching a dvd of the boot camp, and talking some more :D. So that was our night. I hope we don't have any more of that kind of excitement for a little while! :)Saturday, June 16, 2007

Never A Dull Moment
We were busy the rest of the day with church and things so I wasn’t able to go out and see where they had gotten out. The next day, Levi and I went down to the pasture and received quite a surprise. One whole side of the pen was down, wooden posts were busted, and the T-posts, still in the ground but very loose! Either a pretty large deer or one of the horses charged through the fence but whoever had done it had made a huge mess! Groan. :(
We set to work right away. Me driving T-posts in, Levi digging holes for the wooden corner posts. He finished before I did and came over to help with the last of the T-posts.
While pounding one in, we noticed how it quickly and easily pierced the dirt. Levi reached down and pulled on the post to test how sturdy it was and it came out! Then he pushed the post back in with his hand and went in as far as that post-pounder had drove it! We had gotten A LOT of rain in the past few weeks and the ground where we were was pretty soft. We think that must have made the fence give so easily to whatever animal that ran into it. Needless to say, we put that post in a dryer part of the ground! ;)
I’m still puzzled as to why the horses didn’t run away, but went into the round-pen that BTW, has no food whatsoever in it! But I’m very glad they did! :D

A Few Favorite Verses
Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him.
Psalm 37:3-7a.

“Hannah, You Need To Update!”
I told Court that I was nursing a severe case of writer’s block and she advised me to take some vitamin C and apple cider vinegar with garlic :). I wish that was all it would take to cure it.
What do you when you have writer’s block? If you have any suggestions please comment. I love comments!

Joygurl Excerpts
Hello, between chattering teeth, from freeze-your-toes,-nose,-and-everything-else-off WI where the warmest the thermometer says is –5 F, and the wind-chill is –20 F to –30 F. Brrrr! It’s cold. This morning we woke up to no water. The pipes froze. :( :P. But now the problem is fixed and I’m counting running water in my blessings list. : D I hope spring comes early. It probably won’t but I’m still hoping it will. :)
So all I’m trying to do right now is to get warm and stay warm ;). Plus keep up with Tabby’s quirks and sayings. Lately she’s been trying to act grown up and it’s been quite amusing to watch her behavior.
A few days ago she told me she was going to act like a 19-year old, so later on that night (when she was supposed to be in bed sleeping) I found her on the computer in the livingroom.
"Aren’t you supposed to be in bed?" I asked.
"I’m looking something up Hannah." She rolls her eyes at her "childish" sister and keeps clicking away.
I guess that’s what she thinks a 19-year old does at night. :). Where does she get her ideas?!
(…quotes, bible verses, things that have inspired me…)
Psalm 103:1-5,22b
Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfieth they mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.
(…anything to do with horses…)
The other day I went out into the horse pen and started brushing Amigo. Tinker, who was about thirty feet away, saw what I was doing so he went over to the dirtiest spot in the pasture, and rolled, and rolled, and rolled! Then he came over and waited patiently for me to work on him. Grrrr!!! Guess he wanted to make sure he got enough attention that day. :P :)

Laughs
(…jokes or facetious scenes that I have heard, read, or done…)
I was acting really blonde the other day. This is one of the things I did.
I started laughing at how dumb it was to get under a desk and hold a pencil and sharpener over the garbage can when there was nothing for it to catch. And of course Britt wanted to know what was so funny, now she won’t let me forget it. : - P

Joygurl Excerpts
Sorry to keep you waiting. I’m not sure how this will go or if it will work but please bear with me. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
(…quotes, bible verses, ect, ect…)
How pure the soul must be
When, placed within Thy searching sight,
It shrinks not, but with calm delight
Can live, and look on Thee!
The spirits that surround Thy throne
May bear the burning bliss;
But that is surely theirs alone,
Since they have never, never known
A fallen world like this.
Oh how shall I, whose native sphere
Is dark, whose mind is dim,
Before the Ineffable appear,
And on my naked spirit bear
That uncreated beam?
There is a way for man to rise
To that sublime abode,---
An Offering and a Sacrifice
A Holy Spirit’s energies,
An advocate with God:
These, these prepare us for the sight
Of holiness above;
The sons of ignorance and night
May dwell in the Eternal Light,
Through the Eternal Love.

The Man Who Listens To Horses
The Story of a Real-Life Horse Whisperer
By Monty Roberts
It is the story of Monty’s life and how he learned the silent language of the horse through watching wild mustangs near his California home. I have learned a lot. His stories can be funny, sad, or exciting. If you are a horse lover or an avid reader on the subject of horses, I suggest you read this book.
I am reading a few other books but I’m not very far into any of them to be able to give you a thorough review.
